The Experience

There will be plenty to do, but very little that you have to do.

The Nonsuch Experience

The freedom to be comfortable

Luxury without stiffness. Service without fuss. Nature without roughing it.

We think the best kind of luxury is feeling completely comfortable. At Nonsuch, that means beautiful surroundings, exceptional food and the best spa experience we can create, but it also means freedom. Freedom to spend the day exactly as you want to. Arrive, leave the car behind and let us take care of the rest. If your accommodation has its own kitchen, cook for yourself or ask us to send a chef. If you want an evening to yourselves, we can arrange a babysitter. If you realise late at night that you've forgotten something, our delivery cart can bring the essentials to your door. Have a drink at the bar or take a bottle back to your room. Eat in one of our restaurants or have dinner in your own accommodation. However you choose to stay, the important thing is that you're comfortable.

Plenty to do. Very little you have to do.

There will be plenty to do, but very little that you have to do. Walk the grounds and discover sculptures amongst the landscape. Try your hand at woodcraft and whittle a spoon. Practise archery. Visit the pigs and deer being reared on the Estate. Find somewhere quiet and read a book.

Wellness, wherever you find it

Across the estate, fire, cold plunges and saunas will appear in different locations, creating places to warm up, cool down and disappear for a while. Some will be social. Others will be deliberately private. At the heart of the estate, our spa will offer a more complete wellness experience, with treatment rooms, a gym, yoga and a heated outdoor pool. Our ambition is simple: to create the best spa experience we possibly can. The spa will have both an indoor and an outdoor heated pool. Beyond it, wellness becomes less formal. A sauna amongst the trees. A cold plunge after a walk. Sitting around a fire as the evening gets colder.

Make something

We are also creating a lake with an art studio beside it. The equipment will already be there. Resident artists will spend time at Nonsuch, but you won't need to be an artist or join a class. Pick up a brush, make something, make a mess or simply sit beside the water. Go and be free and create.

Luxury without stiffness

That sense of freedom is what we want Nonsuch to be about. Luxury without stiffness. Service without fuss. Nature without roughing it. Come for the spa and spend the afternoon whittling a spoon. Go for a walk and end up in a sauna. Paint something terrible. Feed the pigs. Have a chef cook dinner in your kitchen. Take a Rolls-Royce to Stonehenge. Watch the sun rise from an ancient hillfort. Come back and do absolutely nothing. Nonsuch isn't about filling every hour of your stay. It's about giving you the space, comfort and freedom to spend those hours however you like

Beyond the Estate

And sometimes the best way to experience Nonsuch will be to leave it for a few hours. Our vintage Rolls-Royces will be available to take guests out into the Wiltshire countryside. Visit Stonehenge. See Wiltshire's famous white horses. Or get up before everyone else and let us take you to the top of an ancient Iron Age hillfort in time to watch the sun rise across the landscape. We'll help guests discover the Wiltshire we love, from its best known landmarks to places they might otherwise never find. Then we'll bring you home to Nonsuch.

A living estate

Nonsuch isn't being restored simply as a collection of beautiful buildings. We want it to feel alive. Deer and pigs will be reared on the Estate, bees will produce Nonsuch honey, and hundreds of new trees and wildflower meadows will bring even more life to the landscape. That connection to the land will continue into our kitchens. Our menus will follow the seasons and make use of produce from the Estate alongside some of the best ingredients grown and produced around us. Guests will be able to wander through it all - visit the animals, discover sculptures amongst the trees, find a sauna hidden in the landscape or follow a path down to the lake and spend an afternoon painting. The seasons will change what you see, what you eat and how you spend your time here. Nonsuch shouldn't feel like a hotel surrounded by countryside. The Estate itself is part of the stay.

Play

For those who want to play, Nonsuch will have two padel courts and a full-size tennis court within the Estate. Have a proper match, play badly with friends or pick up a racket for half an hour before heading back to the spa. Like everything at Nonsuch, it is there when you want it and easy to ignore when you don't.

More nature, not less

The future of Nonsuch is as much about the landscape as it is about the buildings. No trees will be removed as part of our development. Instead, hundreds more will be planted across the Estate, alongside new wildflower meadows that will bring colour, habitat and a richer landscape through the seasons. Our plans are designed to deliver more than 30% Biodiversity Net Gain, going well beyond the statutory minimum and leaving the Estate richer in nature than it is today. Beehives will also become part of life at Nonsuch, helping with pollination across the Estate and producing our own Nonsuch honey. Over time, the aim is simple: more trees, more wildflowers, more pollinators and more wildlife, woven naturally into the experience of staying at and exploring Nonsuch.
